The Departed

Charing Cross Road, 1937 by Wolfgang Suschitzky

The streets were Dark
with night and downpour,
drenched, dry,
grumbling and sore

she ran till her shadows follow
"stop, cease, do not go"
she screamed in pain and cry.
drenched in the rain
yet feeling high and dry.
the souls were in tearing hurry to go.

you can chase but not follow
the souls that wanted to return home
You can run but cannot escape
the cold clenched hands of mortalility
and the cruel games of fate.

  2. Hey Ekta,

How simply you presented the universal truth-
"You can run but cannot escape
the cold clenched hands of mortality
and the cruel games of fate."
