Go Fish!

Poverty and hunger
are like albatross around the neck
If you really want to feed him
Teach a man to fish
So he may never have to depend
On your might, on your wish.

Break free!
From the hands that beg food
rather becomes the hands that are made good
to fetch his own wine
and his own loaf

Who knows
He may make his own harbor
and fetch Fishes off shore
The same fishes
that you would pick from your store

Dark Harbor, 1943, N. C. Wyeth

  1. Absolutely your words flowed, beautifully, and I dare say hopefully even better fishes here than from the store!

    1. Thank you Karen. I was little nervous while writing as I was not getting right expressions. I am glad that I made sense here. Keep reading numerounity.

  2. I like how you captured the "teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime" theme. Well done. Just one small critique, hope you don't mind: in English the word "fish" is both singular and plural, adding the "es" in the context you are using the word would not be necessary.
